6/29/2005 11:35:00 AM|W|P|hbjock|W|P| Oh my Lord.. is it possible that blogger now allows you to post pictures without using "Hello"? Hmmmm I'm going to have to try this one out!! LEt's see..I wonder if they'll allow you to post pics wherever in your writing. I've heard that you can only post pictures at the very top of your blog... hmmm that wouldn't work really well I think. Usually when I post pics, I like to post several after some explanation....

Ok, let's see.... I wonder if I create a whole bunch of words if this'll change it... I have to figure out a way to push the pics down...

Hmmm... I guess that answers my question... it's great that blogger now allows you to upload pics... but you can 't put them where you want them... damn it...

Further update: Ok, yeah you can... if you just mess around iwth the HTML for a bit ;)

Thanks and have a good one!6/29/2005 02:37:00 AM|W|P|hbjock|W|P|Hey gang, well I was just doing a bit of cleaning around my room and I ended up coming across an old journal I used to keep, which had initially been given to me by my best friend Ka'ano'i, as a means to keep track of our thoughts while working as clinicians for our high school's marching band one season... and wow, I can't believe I actually kept it as a diary until 2003! Isn't it amazing just to look into your own past sometimes? Anyway, to make this entry a little interesting.. and to prove I'm not a complete asshole to some people when it comes to America and the U.S. government... and since a lot of my fellow blogging friends have been blogging about the war and 9-11... Here's what I actually wrote on that day:
Kepakemapa 11, 2001
Today is a grave day in the history of the world. At 2:30am this morning, or maybe it was 3:30am, Justin (Ka'ano'i) called me collect to say that the World Trade Center, the Twin Towers in New York City had just been bombed. I switched on my tv to make sure I wasn't dreaming this whole conversation, and at first I didn't believe him... but it was all over every station's news broadcast! And the really horrifying fact of the matter is not that the towers were bombed, but in the way they were bombed. Two planes, American Airlines Flt. 11 from Boston to Los Angeles was high-jacked by terrorists and forced to crash into one of the towers. That happened around 8:45am NY time. And then, about 18 minutes later, a United Airlines flight crashed into the other tower! A third plane, another American Airlines flight crashed into the Pentagon! There also was a fourth plane that crashed in Pennsylvania, while on its way to D.C.!
It just amazes me that a terrorist group could do such a thing! No one knows who has caused this travesty, but it was definitely a well-planned terroristic attack. Pres. Bush has already stated that the U.S. will hunt down and find these culprits and they will be severely punished. You know, I may not really care of the man, but I definitely have to give the man credit for taking such a stand. The man is not sterile and definitely speaks with emotion. That's the kind of President that I like to have. The Secretary of Defense said that if there is a chance of war, they'll be more than ready.
I have a feeling that the U.S. government is on its last legs as it comes to terrorism. I feel that any other terroristic threats will probably launch the U.S. into a war. British Prime Minister Tony Blair said that Britain will join forces with the U.S. in fighting against terrorism, and that Britain will not rest until terroristic threats in this world are put to an end. President Bush is due to speak again in a few minutes to address the nation. At this point, I feel really moved to write a kanikau(a chant of lament) for this situation, so don't be surprised if you see it soon!
And about an hour after that... I wrote this addition to the entry...

Aloha ‘oe e nā mamo o ka honua He malila mōhai a ka ukiuki Uhi ‘ia ka lani o ka pō uliuli Ulehelehe ke kākala wela, he pa‘a wela Na wai i ho‘opau ai ke ahi o ke aloha? Mālo‘i nā waimaka o ke akua Mālo‘elo‘e ho‘i au i ka ‘ino wela Ua haha‘i ‘ia ke kua o ke aloha hoahānau Ua moku ka piko a lele A komo i ka ‘ape nalu, ka ‘ape‘ape kai ‘ale‘ale Auē nō ho‘i ē… Farewell to you, the descendants of the earth A ghostly offering of anger and resentment The heavens of the deep, dark night have been covered Ripped open and scarred from burning, a scorched wasteland Who has destroyed the fires of love? Tears are welling up in the eyes of God I am tired and aching in this fiery storm The backbone of brotherhood has been shattered The center of all life has been cut and tossed aside Tossed into the surging waves, the surging overflowing sea Alas…

I tried to translate as best as I could.. but it's been a few years since I wrote this so I'm not exactly sure of the right wording I wanted to use when it comes to English translation... Anyway, it is what it is I guess... Sometimes I can't believe I actually backed Bush for a bit there... well, what can I say, moments of extreme grief cause people to look for leadership anywhere =)

It sometimes feels like just yesterday, and other days it only seems like a dream.6/29/2005 10:11:00 AM|W|P|Anonymous Alex|W|P|Beautifully written poem which eloquently captures the sheer terror of that day. There are three big events I vividly remember to this day; 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake (I live in the bay area) Oklahoma City Bombing (Seeing that firefighter carry that blood soaked baby is so gutwretching) and 9/11 (driving to school when I heard of the attack on the radio)6/29/2005 04:21:00 PM|W|P|Blogger Glenn Ingersoll|W|P|It would have been a totally weird freak of a president who wouldn't have said he'd hunt down & destroy the monsters who perpetrated 9/11. So I didn't give Bush any credit for saying it. Especially after he was such a nullity all day. Where is he now? Reports are he's flitting about in his plane looking for a nice out of the way place to bluster from.

On the other hand the chant ain't bad. I like it better than some of the famous poets' responses. Ok, so I just finished re-reading Book 5 of the Harry Potter series... wow, it's amazing how much of this story I forgot =). Anyway, if you haven't read it yet, I'll just say that there are some interesting new characters in this chapter of the saga and well... it's probably the one book that answers A LOT of questions that have probably built up in your minds about Harry Potter and Voldemort and Dumbledore if any of you have been reading the books. Oh and trust me, if you've only watched the movies... do yourself a favor and read all the books, starting from Book 1, Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone. There are just soooo many more details and interesting side-stories that happen in the book that come back later in further books that it just amazes me that someone could create a series like this! Anyway, I've been re-reading all the books in preparation for Book 6, Harry Potter and the Half-Blooded Prince, due out next month... Although dang, even though the series is soon coming to a close... I'm a little disappointed that there are only 600 something pages in the upcoming book.. I mean Book for has 700 something and Book 5, the book above, has 800+ pages!! Hell, I don't want to whip through this next book... ahhh well... heheh..|W|P|111995386155794843|W|P|Order of the Phoenix|W|P|bfljock79@gmail.com6/28/2005 03:27:00 AM|W|P|Blogger cola boy|W|P|I haven't read any of them, yet. I'm on a break between shows so I raced over to the university to take care of some transcript things I need to get sent out to a scholarship I got during my last semester of my BA and figured to pass the time I'd come in here and post a bit.... and of course, naturally after checking email and dilly-dallying on Myspace fora bit, I realized I have to go in a few minutes!! HAH! Anyway, so after calling in for my schedule on Tuesday night, I've come to the realization that I will be working EVERY SINGLE F**KING SHOW of the Seasame Street Live run!! OMG!!!! ANd I thought I was already on overload with the 13 shows I already knew about.... apparently we're majorly short-staffed this week, so they added two more shows to my schedule... lovely.... So the hell that was last week, is like deja-vu all over again, I have 2 shows every day from today until Sunday when the run is over... And well, as much as I love this show... uhhh you can bet I'll be pretty delirious with the lyrics by the time Sunday rolls around! Ahhh well, at least that'll give me 9.5 hours of overtime this week.. hmm let's see.. 9.5 hours at time and a half which is about $13.60 an hour.... hmmmm ok, I can't really complain ;). And well, the assistant show manager is a total cutie, so I dont' mind seeing him every day.... and NO, I don't really talk to him.. he's always in a rush and I'm supposed to be working... so, oh well... although I do think he's "family", and I don't see a wedding ring so hmmm.... ahh well, nothing wrong with dreams and short-lived fantasies right? I'm still a good boy... I think....=) Woops, it's 4:30 already.. I better get going.. hope you guys are having an awesome day! Oh by the way, for the adults out there, I found a link to a hot site that I totally forgot about for a while... www.circlejerkboys.com BTW, all you teens who are under 18, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!! Oh wait, I did have something of value to say today... Apparently the Bush administration has put some kind of ruling or freeze on "adult" pictures on public websites like gay.com so the staff at gay.com had to remove all the member "adult" pics from the site until they can hopefully get an injunction on the measure. I don't know if this is going to happy internet wide, but if it does.. this may be the end of "adult" sites... ugh... damn politicians.... here we go again, f**king around with the 1st amendment again... Let's hope and pray that the Christian Coalition won't be able to get away with this one... and the public actually voted this asshole (Bush) back into office for a second term? Ugh... "Amended Section 2257 recordkeeping regulations go into effect at midnight tonight. The federal law requires website owners to keep records documenting, among other things, that "every performer portrayed in a visual depiction of actual sexually explicit conduct" is over the age of 18."

But then again Disney also scares me, and even did as a kid. My folks always had to take me from the theater, crying and throwing up.

I finally have a few days off from one of the most busiest and tiring weekends that I've had in ages. Anyway, I obviously needed a lot of sleep because I crashed out until noon.... I hate when I oversleep, but hey, when you need it.. you need it, right? Ok, so today I did my upper body workout, and I don't know if it was because I hadn't slept much or because work has been kicking my ass... but my workout sucked ass!! All of a sudden the weights felt so damned heavy and I couldn't get all my sets in... I may have to reduce the weight load for Friday... (which of course I know makes me sound like a total weakling because I'm not really pushing a great load heheh) Chest
  • Dumbbell Incline Presses 10 reps x 20lbs. 8 reps x 25lbs. 6 reps x 30lbs. 12 reps x 25lbs.
  • Dumbbell Incline Flyes 12 reps x 15lbs.

Shoulders

  • Dumbbell Shoulder Press 10 reps x 15lbs. 8 reps x 20lbs. 6 reps x 25lbs. 12 reps x 20lbs.
  • Front Raises 12 reps x 5lbs.

Back

  • Wide-Grip Lat Pulldowns 12 reps x 60lbs. 10 reps x 70lbs. 8 reps x 80lbs. 6 reps x 90lbs. 12 reps x 80lbs.
  • Back Extensions 12 reps

Triceps

  • Dumbbell Extensions 12 reps x 15lbs. 10 reps x 20lbs. 8 reps x 25lbs.
  • Bench Dips 12 reps

Biceps

  • Barbell Curls 12 reps x 20lbs. 10 reps x 30lbs. 8 reps x 40lbs.

So that was it... my sorry-assed workout... ugh... I defintiely need to push harder on Friday. Anyway, the good side of it is that I am eating really well today.. a mixture of meal replacement shakes and quality proteins and carbs... heheh... well, that's about it!

~B6/15/2005 10:31:00 PM|W|P|hbjock|W|P|Hey gang, well today was almost a total lost... I slept ALL DAY!!! Yikes!! I hate when I do that... it's not like I really needed it either... It was just way too comfortable in that bed of mine and well, it was too hot to move =). Hmmm when I inherit this house, I'm knocking it down and building new and the first thing I'm going to install is central a/c! It wis way too hot here in the tropics to go without one... Anyway, I did manage to get into the gym for my lower body workout though! Now, I don't know about you guys, but the legs aren't really as fun for me to work on as say... my arms are. When I do my arms or my chest, I can start to see the pump and the solidness develop after I put the weights down... but I've always had pretty lean legs, so after I get done doing my legs, I don't really see much of a difference.. oh well... I'm sure it'll start to pop out in time. The Lower Body Weight Training program works the same way as the Upper Body workout does... you select an exercise to do for a muscle group like the quadriceps and you do 5 sets of the excersize in this pattern... 12 reps, 10 reps, 8 reps, 6 reps, 12 reps... waiting 1 minute in between each set... with the weight pattern going up like this.. 80lbs, 90lbs, 100lbs, 110lbs, 100lbs... then you do immediately choose a different excersize for the same muscle group and do 12 reps at the lightest weight of the weight pattern (80lbs.) then you wait 2 minutes and then move on to the next muscle group, like hamstrings... The whole point is to judge your exertion on an intensity scale of 1-10... by the time you get to the last set of exercise for that particular muscle group, you should hit a "10".. meaning that if you do one more rep, your legs will fall off heheh... Then of course about every week - every 2 weeks, you want to try and raise the weight pattern a bit.. So anyway, this was what I did today.. Quads
  • Leg Presses 12 reps x 75lbs. 10 reps x 90lbs. 8 reps x 105lbs. 6 reps x 120lbs. 12 reps x 105lbs.
  • Leg Extensions 12 reps x 80lbs.

Hamstrings

  • Lying Leg Curls 12 reps x 30lbs. 10 reps x 35lbs. 8 reps x 40lbs. 6 reps x 45lbs. 12 reps x 40lbs.
  • Straight-Leg Deadlifts 12 reps x 50lbs.

Calves

  • Standing Heel Raises 12 reps x 60lbs. 10 reps x 70lbs. 8 reps x 80lbs. 6 reps x 90lbs. 12 reps x 80lbs.
  • 45 Degree Raises 12 reps x 60lbs.

Abdominals

  • Floor Crunches 12 reps. 10 reps. 8 reps. 6 reps. 12 reps.
  • Oblique Crunches 12 reps.

Ok, who knows why abs are put on the same day as legs.. maybe it's because the back and the abs work hand in hand and it'd probably not be a good idea to stress both on the same day... hmmm... anyway, it was a great workout!!

I think I'll leave the meal plan for another day... writing about it, I mean hehehe.. Have a great day everybody, and make sure to stop by and say hi!!

As many of you might not know, I have a condition called colitis, which is basically like a stress rash but on the inside of your body in my colon... apparently one semester a few years back I got too stressed out and it totally killed my immune system. BUT not to worry, everything's back to normal now.. my doc just likes me to take blood counts and cholesterol and stuff like that every 3-6 months to make sure the colitis doesn't come back... and I'm happy to report, that my blood is perfectly fine! Wooo hoo!!! Oh! But the bigger news, which makes me totally ecstatic... is that my doctor IS NOT moving to Utah!! Woo hoo!!! There were rumours floating around that her husband got a big position in the mormon church in SLC and was starting to "phase out" her practice... well, she said that that info was completely inaccurate.. that the only moving she was in the process of doing was moving to a bigger office space up the street from where her current office space is! Wooooo hooo again!!! Ok I have to tell you, this woman if f**king awesome!! She's an excellent diagnostic.... she can figure otu what ever you have in like 10 minnutes... and if she can't, then she'll order every test known to man to figure out what it is... and she has an x-ray lab and a blood lab right in her office!! How cool is that??? Anyway, now that things are looking great, I just wanted to get that out of my system.. heheheh... oh... and big BIG props to Scotty, who's doing a body transformation challenge of his own... you're such a hunk already man, I'm so proud of you!!|W|P|111882985129655485|W|P|Health Update|W|P|bfljock79@gmail.com6/15/2005 06:59:00 AM|W|P|Blogger Donnie|W|P|Hey there! I'd be unreasonably proud of myself if I were all well and shit. And pride is a sin! A sin!6/14/2005 04:34:00 PM|W|P|hbjock|W|P|The thing I despise the most about working out is cardio, and strenuous cardio at that.. like running... I can't stand running... unfortunately, it's the most efficent form of fat-burning cardio that there is... I just hate getting all hot and sweaty and short of breath, when a bed isn't involved, that is ;). Anyway, yesterday I described what the weight training portion of the Body-for-Life program is all about... so today, it's all about the cardio program. BFL creator, Bill Phillips, calls this unique program the 20-Minute Aerobics Solution. Basically, it's a program that combines the High-Point Technique and the Intensity Index. Hehehe ok, I know some people are already confused... so let me back up a bit...
  • According to new research that has come out over the years, the low-intensity, long-duration exercise program is NOT the best method for burning fat. The research now proves that something more intense burns more fat (up to 50% more) than running at a steady pace. It also shows that using an intensity-driven workout will rev up your metabolism more and keep it sustained for hours after your workout.
  • Research also indicates that you should work out, especially when it comes to cardio, on an empty stomach, like in the morning after you wake up. Because, when your body is in a "fasting" state, which it is after sleeping for 6-8 hours, your energy is taken from fat stores because there is no longer any food in your system to draw it from. Research has proven that working out in the morning burns up to 300% more fat than when you do the same amount of exercise in the afternoon, after eating during the day.
  • So, I was reading an article on various forms of exercise and HIIT vs. regular low-intensity, long-duration exercise and it brought a startling revelation to my mind... If you look at the body of an Olympic Sprinter vs the body of a championship long-distance runner, you'll notice a huge difference... The runner's body tends to be slim with a litlte belly hanging out, whereas sprinters who do short high intensity sprints, have lean muscled and ripped bodies from largely anaerobic workouts. Without getting too technical, the resarch shows that there's a relationship between intensity and growth hormone secretion... which then increases fat burning. Basically, as the workload goes up, growth hormone secretion increases. Research has also shown that GH secretion is greater with short anaerobic exercise such as sprinting, and less with continuous activity like long-distance running, often times increasing the hormone secretion by 300% vs. that in endurance training.
  • Also, according to further research, growth hormone levels were still approx. 10 times greater an hour later than before exercising in the sprinting group. So this research suggests that long-term increase of groth hormone in sprint-training athletes might result in an increase in fat metabolism, decreased bodyfat, and a decrease in protein catabolism, which is the tearing down of lean muscle.

Anyway, I know that might've confused some of you who are not totally focused and researched.. so basically the research says that doing intense exercises like sprinting intervals can burn up to 300% more fat and keep your metabolism up for a longer period of time than running at a steady pace for an hour.

Hence the reason why Bill Phillips came up with the 20-Minute Aerobic Solution... Again, using the same "intensity" scale of 1-10 from the weight training program, you would time yourself for 20 minutes... so pick an exercise like running or swimming, or biking, or whatever gets your heart rate up... and for the first two minutes, warm up on a level "5" on your intensity scale... then from minute 2-3, you would push it up a notch and start maybe a medium jog and get up to a "6" on intensity.. then from minute 3-4, kick it up to a "7".. then from minute 4-5, you' d kick it up to an "8".. then from min. 5-6, you push up to a "9" on the intensity scale... probably by then you should be breaking a sweat... then once you hit 6:00 on your time clock, bring it back down to a level "6" on intensity and then each minute, build it up again to a "9" just like you did before...

Then you repeat the sequence over and over until you reach 18:00 on your clock, at that point, you'll push even harder and push the intensity as far as you can go, a total "10"... which means that you're busting your ass going as fast and hard as you can for a minute... and trust me, that is f**king hard to do!! Then when you hit 19:00, you slow down and go down to a level "5" to cool down for the last minute...

And there you have it! The Aerobics Solution...

Anyway, I totally despise running and it totally kicked my ass this morning... thank God tomorrow is a lower body weight training day.... Oh!! By the way, to fully reap the benefits of higher metabolism, the program also suggests not eating for an hour after cardio workouts to maximize the fat burn that occurs within that hour. =) Sometime this week I'll go over the food plan that the program has.. it's a little difficult for someone like me who loves his fast food, but I guess it could be worse =).|W|P|111880770257493531|W|P|BFL Cardio Prorgram|W|P|bfljock79@gmail.com6/14/2005 08:21:00 PM|W|P|Blogger Brian|W|P|I normally bike for a month before I can run. I've started biking. I know never to do an even track, unless you are cooling down. I usually go 30 - 45 minutes (depending on if I did legs that day or not). I think I've actually GAINED weight since I started, mostly because my legs are beasts that eat up any training I give them.

Maybe I'll try the work out. I've done sprints before to train for mini's and stuff, but 20 minutes seems like a really short run.

How long does a work out usually take you?

Well here at BFLJock, it is the best day of the week as far as blogging goes, because it's time for the "Hottie of the Week" and the beginning of a new workout week! Yum! Well, again, it was difficult to pick one guy to be the "hottie", so I figured an assortment would be nice ;) My personal favorites are the first and last pics, but I'm sure there's something to appeal to everyone somewhere in the four! Dang!! I mean, look at him... like he was chiseled out of stone.. seriously.... a modern day "David" I think... Damn Brazil, they ahve some of the hottest guys in the world down there.. lean, buffed and tanned... yum!! Thank God I live in a tropical location too ;) Alright so what's a "hottie" collection without a hot, sweaty guy working his abs right?? Dang!!! Or as "Wayne" would say... "Schwiiiiiiing!!" big arms, a chiseled face, pecs and cool glasses, what more could a guy want? There are a few bloggers out there who already have this particular physique like Jock-o-Homo, Geek Slut, and my online bud, Beast... but for the rest of us, at least we can use these pics for motivation in the gym right! Oh by the way, Beast... I know you like your guys HUGE and I have a great pic in mind for you.. I just hope I haven't lost it when my hard drive crashed a while back.. Me in the morning... Ok, so it's not really me heheheh... but that was how I felt this morning.. TOTALLY NOT wanting to get out of bed! But I guess... I can't get the kind of bod this hottie has if I lay around all day and do nothing huh? Ok, so here we go... I figured out that I need to actually pack my gym bag the night before and have it sitting on my bedroom floor right in front of my bed with my shoes right there, otherwise I'm going to get too lazy and not go to the gym when I really should... So here's what I did today... Since many have asked... I'm using the Body-For-Life program which was designed by EAS & MetRx creator, Bill Phillips. Bill found the most effecient way to work the body without going overboard or starving the system... it's consisted of a pretty intense workout program 6 times a week... 3 days a week (M, W, F for me) on weights and 3 days (T, Th, Sat) of cardio... Ok, so the plan when you have weight training days is... on Day 1, you do the "upper body" workout, which consists of the chest, shoulders, back, triceps and biceps... and the name of the game is INTENSITY. Through years of research and trial and error, Bill figured out that it's the intensity of a workout, and not necessarily the number of reps you do that builds muscle faster and stronger.. so what you do is there's a list of recommended excersizes for each muscle group.. you choose one (i.e. chest... Dumbbell Chest Press) and you'll do 5 sets of that exercise, with the firs set being 12 reps at a relatively easy weight amount (somewhere along a "5" on a scale from 5 - 10... so something where you feel weight but you're not strainign yourself just yet), then you rest for a minute, then on your next set you choose a weight that's the next weight level higher and do 10 reps.. this should feel to be a "6" on the your intensity level... then you rest a minute.. then you increase the weight again and on your 3rd set, you do 8 reps (a "7" on intensity)... then rest again.. then take it up on weight again and do 6 reps (an "8" on intensity)... then rest for a minute, but this last set you take the weight back down to your 8-rep set level and do 12 reps this time... (it should feel like a "9" in intensity).. and THEN, as soon as you finish that set, go back to your original "5" weight and pick another exercise that works the same muscle group (i.e. chest= dumbbell flyes) and do 12 reps, no break in between... that should feel like a "10"... meaning that if you did one more rep, your arms would fall off... Ok, so after you finish that set, you're done with that muscle group.. you then rest for 2 minutes and move on to the next muscle group and repeat the process. Because you time yourself, the workout should be somewhere between 45-55 minutes... Bill also found out that working your muscles intensely for any longer than an hour could have a negative affect on muscle building, so you want to make sure to not rest for too long ;) Anyway, this is one of those programs where you can't be like a lot of the guys in the gym who will do their set and then chill out and check themselves out or talk to their friends for half and hour and then do their next set.. sometimes, I wonder how people can spend 2-3 hours in a gym... that's massive overkill... Ok, so now that I've completely bored most of you.. here's what I did today... Chest
  • Dumbbell Incline Presses 12 reps x 20lbs. 10 reps x 25lbs. 8 reps x 30lbs. 6 reps x 35lbs. 12 reps x 30lbs.
  • Dumbbell Incline Flyes 12 reps x 20lbs.

Shoulders

  • Dumbbell Shoulder Press 12 reps x 15lbs. 10 reps x 20lbs. 8 reps x 25lbs. 6 reps x 30lbs. 12 reps x 35lbs.
  • Front Raises 12 reps x 5lbs.

Back

  • Wide-Grip Lat Pulldowns 12 reps x 60lbs. 10 reps x 70lbs. 8 reps x 80lbs. 6 reps x 90lbs. 12 reps x 100lbs.
  • Back Extensions 12 reps.

Triceps

  • Dumbbell Extensions 12 reps x 15lbs. 10 reps x 20lbs. 8 reps x 25lbs. 6 reps x 30lbs. 12 reps x 25lbs.
  • Tricep Pushdowns 12 reps x 40lbs.

Biceps

  • Hammer Curls 12 reps x 20lbs.

Well, there you have it... my shoulders are the weakest part on my upper bod, but knowing me, they'll probably be the first to develop hehehe... Oh well, I need to get my ass to bed.. tomorrow is my cardio workout... I despise running, so wish me luck!

Snow Garden seemed to drag on in the middle but it finally all came togehter. A couple days ago, I was hanging out with a friend, and yes, he was just a friend... anyway, we were hanging at his new place and he was giving me a tour of his house. Well, we went into his bedroom and he has this dresser next to his bed that had these things lined up on it...

Ok, now I can totally understand seeing one bottle of lube on a dresser or even a side table... but there were 4 of these bottles.. and this baby next to it...

Ok, now I'm like WTF???? Ok, I know the man is "married" to a sweet man... but DAMN, who the hell needs all that lube??? Hell, if this is any indication of his sex life with his man... I need to find a man like that!! Sorry, of course this has nothing of value, but oh well, I just thought it was funny and a bit shocking ;)|W|P|111839549957374958|W|P|OMG Whaa??|W|P|bfljock79@gmail.com6/10/2005 12:29:00 AM|W|P|Blogger Brian|W|P|lol, the lube in the gay man's bedroom. Are we at all surprised? No, not at all ... he could have been a little more discrete maybe? Just as a tidbit, usually 'extra' lube hanging around indicates toy-use. Toys typically take one hand to use effectively, well, untill you know ... nevermind. But that probably speaks for the pump. Otherwise, perhaps they've enough sex that they like one kind for quickies and one kind for long runs. I DO know that some people are more sensitive to some kinds of lube and need a 'gentler' formula when they are going for a long session, so to speak.

Wow, that was uber clinical and sterile. Be afraid :)

Hey everybody! It seems like forever since I've posted about Hawaiian history... I think the last time was back in early May....http://bfljock79.blogspot.com/2005/05/no-n-hanauna-mai-wkea-mai.html Therefore, I think at that time, I had posted the first half of a chapter written by Hawaiian historian David Malo in the 1840s about the beginnings of the Hawaiian people. So, here's the last half of that chapter. It's from Hawaiian Antiquities, which came from the manuscript of David Malo, who again was a Hawaiian historian, who lived from 1795-1853:

13. Here is something that is said, a man arrived from Tahiti named Mo‘ikeha, and at the time when he arrived, Kalapana was the ruler of Hawai‘i during this time. 14. When Mo‘ikeha arrived he settled on the island of Kaua‘i, and he slept with a woman named Hinau‘ula, and they gave birth to a son named Kila. 15. When Kila had grown up, he traveled to Tahiti, and it is thought that he left from the western point of Kaho‘olawe, because this point is called “The path to Tahiti.” 16. Kila arrived in Tahiti and upon his return to Hawai‘i, he brought along La‘amaikahiki, this was also when the kā‘eke‘eke drum was introduced, and the canoe lashing cords, and they settled back in Hawai‘i, and they also became ancestors for Hawai‘i’s royalty and others, these people and things were known to be from Tahiti in ancient times. 17. It is thought that Hawaiians are all part of one people stretching from Hawai‘i to Tahiti and including all islands in between. 18. Because, they all shared similar physical features, the languages are similar, the genealogies are comparable, and the legends, and the wooden god images, it is thought that all these people came to Hawai‘i in little groups. 19. Because, there (in Tahiti) they have large canoes called pahi, most likely the same canoes that they used to travel to Hawai‘i, it is also said, the ancient people were highly-skilled in observing the stars, which served as their compass during long journeys. 20. However, it is not said that the first canoes were of the pahi class, nor were they moku, or “ships”, but merely referred to as wa‘a. 21. It has been said, however, that these people came from the lewa, the atmosphere, from the windward or back of the heavenly island. 22. The meaning of these expressions is that they came from foreign lands, that is the air, and the front of that land is at the back of these islands. 23. Perhaps this was a people that were banished by war, or driven this way by winds and storms, perhaps Asia is this place that is referred to by a region of air, or possibly the expression refers to islands that they drifted around in and visited before arriving here, so that on their arrival they declared they came from the back of these islands. 24. Perhaps these people were from the Israelites, because we know that certain customs of the Israelites were practiced here in Hawai‘i. 25. Circumcision, places of refuge, tabus relating to burial rites, restrictions upon menstruating women, the isolation of a woman who just gave birth for seven days after the birth, all these things were practiced by the Hawaiian people. 26. Perhaps these people are those spoken of in the Word of God as “the lost sheep of the House of Israel”, because when we really study it, we can see that the people of Asia are very similar to the native inhabitants of these islands and those of Tahiti and the islands surrounding them.
Ok, it should be said.. that while all this information is valuable because of the fact that David Malo lived during a pivotal era of Hawaiian history. It also MUST be said that Malo converted to Christianity as many Hawaiians did at that time, so a lot of his opinions of the traditions of our people are heavily influenced by Christian doctrine and thought. SO the scholar of today has to work even harder to look past all that and draw your own conclusions about what he has to say. Anyway, I think that's enough for one post, have a great night everyone!|W|P|111822267204771791|W|P|No Nā Hanauna Mai Ā Wākea Mai – Part 2|W|P|bfljock79@gmail.com6/08/2005 01:18:00 AM|W|P|Blogger Brian|W|P|Nice post :)

I'm donning the cap 'n gown myself this Friday...6/05/2005 12:51:00 PM|W|P|hbjock|W|P|Hey everybody... well, I have one more day of graduations and then the season is over! Woo hoo!! Thankfully, Punahou's graduation last night was pretty good. The speeches were actually pretty good and one of them actually brought me to tears thinking back to my high school days... Anyway, they've also managed to learn how to speed up the name-calling process so the whole thing went by pretty easily. The one "off" part was that for some reason, it seems every high school graduation now includes the singing of several songs by the graduating class. Ok, can I just ask, what is up with that? At least Punahou looks like they put some effort into it because they were singing in harmonies with musical accompaniment rather than everyone singing the melody line... HOWEVER, they need to stay away from Hawaiian songs... they're pronunciation was HORRIBLE. But other than that, I enjoyed the graduation! Tonight is Waipahu's graduation, my home town... and from what I hear, NOBODY is looking forward to working this one... I just sincerely hope that I get put on the floor tonight, and not up on the second floor/general seating area... Anyway, hopefully it'll all be over by 8-9pm... then I have almost an entire week off from work. I can't wait... Other than that, my personal life seems to suck these days for reasons that I'd rather not go into right now.. let's just say my heart is really lonely at this point in time, and although I do have someone of interest in mind, for the moment, everything is at a stand-still with him... how much of this I can handle, I do not know... I just pray that it will all work out in the end. "And yes, Annelle, I do pray...."|W|P|111801239577658419|W|P|One Day More...|W|P|bfljock79@gmail.com6/05/2005 03:16:00 PM|W|P|Blogger drifter|W|P|Hey man - hang in there. Things always get better despite them appearing to be pretty shitty at points. I have been there, done that, etc. and you will too. If you need a good listener or anything - let me know.

Hope all is well and the graduation is going good.

Since none of us could sing (or didn't care to) we chose to emphasize the point. Not for the fainthearted, but kinda fun.

Much luck in love!6/04/2005 02:56:00 AM|W|P|hbjock|W|P|Hey gang, well today I was working the graduation of Maryknoll School, a local high school .... and I've come to the realization that these kids did not take a public speaking course in high school. I mean, with the exception of the students of the Kamehameha Schools, EVERY graduation I've worked this year has had some of the dumbest valedictorian speeches I've ever heard. This school's valedictorial speech? It was about how they've gone through soooo many difficulties and strife through the last 4 years... and I quote.. "Freshman year we had to deal with '9/11' only a few weeks into school.... Sophomore year we were challenged with the task of being 'extras' in '50 first dates'.. and now here we are at the end of what seems to be the ultimate journey." HUH?? I mean come on.... what kind of heartfelt speech is that? Where is the profound thought and advice for the future that you would expect the smartest kid in the class to provide? Oh, and maybe I'm just being a total bitch... but... in my high school, we have an annually televised song contest where the classes compete against each other singing chorally arranged Hawaiian songs without any musical accompaniment... And anyway, most of the high schools here will sing songs during their graduation... usually something popular that has significant lyrics for one reason or another. BUT what irritates me is that there's no harmony! I mean, if you're gonna sing for your graduation which is the BIGGEST event of your high school career.. at least put some effort into it! And what cracks me up is that they need a musical director to lead them.. and then when they stand up together and sit down together, there's "ooohs" and "aaahhhs" throughout the audience... oh, and this class.. decided to sing some song that apparently had one line of Hawaiian language that repeated itself through almost every other line... I was dying... The artistic gay Hawaiian in me just wanted to "rip" them left and right... Anyway, I'm just glad that I'm only working two more graduations... tomorrow I'm working a graduation for Punahou, the oldest private high school west of the Rockies... and then on Sunday night I'm working the graduation for Waipahu, a public high school, which by the way, is the local high school for the town I live in =). Ok, I gotta get my ass to bed... see ya!|W|P|111789064445358776|W|P|Graduations Winding Down...|W|P|bfljock79@gmail.com6/04/2005 02:46:00 PM|W|P|Anonymous jetboy|W|P|Okay, just because you can belt out a flawless Whitney Houston's "The Greatest Love of All", doesn't mean the rest of us can.

LOL.....careful, your age is beginning to show! ;-)6/02/2005 01:42:00 PM|W|P|hbjock|W|P|Hey gang, sorry I've been non-existant for most of this week. My best friend of all time came into town for a brief visit before going back to work for SWA so that's where I've been ;). Anyway, here's the "Hottie" of the Week, or I guess I should say "Hotties". This week I decided since it was Memorial Day, that I'd highlight probably the largest presence of military on these islands, the Navy. Navy guys always "get shit" from other armed forces, but you know what... they're always among the first to be sent anywhere in times of battle. So this one is for all the sailor lovers out there. Unfortunately, I couldn't really find legit pics of real sailors so you may have to imagine it ok? =)

Ok, so he's probably a porn star, but still the uniform looks hot!

Wooo hooo!! I did find one real pic, a team of Navy Seals, probably the most INTENSE training unit of any of the armed forces... The Seals get sent in when all else fails and you need to get shit done right.

And this one... well, come on he's just outright hot. And it kinda reminded me of my buddy M. Ok, so he's not built like this yet, but he has a bunch of shell necklaces, and since we were hanging out today, it made me think of him!|W|P|111775572932816864|W|P|Hottie of the Week 5-30|W|P|bfljock79@gmail.com6/03/2005 03:07:00 AM|W|P|Blogger Brechi|W|P|wow, way to get me all horny this morning. lol6/03/2005 06:09:00 AM|W|P|Blogger Donnie|W|P|BFLjock, man...you really know what buttons to push!
